Mrs. Nancy

Mrs. Nancy

I talked to Mrs. Nancy this past week.

I don't know Mrs. Nancy.  At least I didn't before this past week.  Our website was being a little cantankerous, so Mrs. Nancy emailed us for help.  I gave her a call and we got her order taken care of.  She is a sweetheart!  We found out we have not one, but two things in common.

The first?  Mrs. Nancy loves Pine Apple!  She grew up spending her time here and is related to half of the town!  The second?  She now lives in The Shoals (Florence, Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia, and Sheffield) where I lived for 26 years.  The Shoals is my other "Pine Apple" so to speak!  Our oldest son and his wife still live there.  My home church and many lifelong friends are still there.

We had quite a lot to talk about!  Mrs. Nancy was so encouraging as she loves our store.  She said it brings back so many memories of Pine Apple.  We know what she means as it brings back memories for our mothers as well.  They spent their Saturdays growing up shopping in downtown Pine Apple. They purchased shoes from the original Pine Apple Mercantile Company.  My mother remembers the rolling ladder to reach the high shelves.  Cloth came from the Anderson's store down the street.

What I took away from the conversation with Mrs. Nancy was great memories of this sweet town.  We talk to so many people with Pine Apple connections and they all say the same thing.  Pine Apple is special. Strangers come into town and leave saying, "Pine Apple" is special.

This Friday and Saturday, we hope to make it even more special for you.  Join us at Moore Academy and let's have a great time of community, fun and fellowship.  There will be good food, good music, and great history to talk about.  The Wilcox Historical Society Tour never disappoints, either!  It's a jam-packed weekend of good stuff!  We can't wait!

And, while Mrs. Nancy can't make it this year.  Our mothers will be here.  Yes, there will be memories of days gone by, but one thing remains the same.  People.  We as people long for connection, community, fellowship, and hospitality.

Join in the fun and fellowship!  We will see you this weekend!
