Deep Roots

Deep Roots

Tree lined streets are beautiful, don't you think?

My early morning walk took me down the sidewalks of Pine Apple.  Pine Apple is such a beautiful, serene town.  As I made my way further down the road, I came to the large oak trees that line the street on one side.

As I am admiring these majestic oaks, I wonder just how much history these oaks have seen.  They are very large and clearly weren't planted in my lifetime.  Most likely, the road was still dirt at that point.  Who knows, they could have been there since the turn of the 19th century.  Either way, they are not strangers to this world.  They have experienced much and still stand tall.

They have stood the test of time.  They have seen rain, sunshine, drought, cold, and extreme heat, yet they still stand.

How is it that they can experience so much and still stand so majestically?  Simple, they have deep roots.  There foundation is firm.

Like the oak tree, we can stand on a firm foundation.  That firm foundation will see us through the trials of life.  Will we be scarred as some of these trees are?  Quite possibly.  Will we lose something just as some of these trees have lost branches and limbs?  Most likely.  However, if we have deep roots and a firm foundation, just like these trees, we will still stand.  We will not fall when the storms come.

Deep roots and a firm foundation....stand the test of time.

He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.  Jeremiah 17:8
