Meticulously crafted in a barn workshop on the outskirts of Louisville, Kentucky, these pens are the collaborative creation of master craftsman Jim Cantrell and his grandson, Ryan Jones. Their work embodies a shared passion for woodworking, storytelling, and creating tools that inspire intentional living.
Every Roots & Jones pen is individually turned from thoughtfully sourced wood, ranging from reclaimed bourbon barrels and Bethlehem olivewood to rare North American and exotic species. Each pen is a one-of-a-kind piece, designed to serve as a daily companion for journaling, reflection, or marking life's significant moments.

About the Makers
Jim Cantrell, born in Oldham County, Kentucky in 1939, is a skilled craftsman with a background in plumbing, pipe fitting, and welding. His passion for woodworking led him to create furniture, clocks, and toys, eventually inspiring the handcrafted pens that became the foundation of Roots & Jones.
Ryan Jones, a University of Kentucky graduate, co-founded Roots & Jones with his grandfather after extensive travels and experiences that deepened his appreciation for craftsmanship and storytelling. Together, they have transformed a family hobby into a meaningful venture that celebrates connection, purpose, and the art of writing.
Each Roots & Jones pen is more than a writing instrument; it's a testament to heritage, craftsmanship, and the stories that connect us all.
